fx-blog (fxblog.dev) is a personal blog run by one person. This page says what the site keeps about you, why, for how long, and who else handles it. Questions: [email protected].
## What you can do without an account
Reading needs no account and sets no tracking cookie. The site does not use analytics scripts, advertising trackers or a fingerprinting service.
- View counts. To count a view once, the site derives a short marker from your request that changes every day and cannot be turned back into your address. Markers are deleted within 24 hours; only the daily totals stay.
- "Was this useful?" If you answer without signing in, your browser keeps your answer in its own storage so you are not asked again. The server keeps the yes/no answer and, for up to 30 days, a per-browser key so one browser counts once.
## If you create an account
The site keeps your email address, your display name, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), whether your email is confirmed, and your display preferences. If you sign in with Google, it also keeps the Google account identifier and the email and name Google shares; it asks Google for nothing else.
What you do on the site is kept with your account: comments, ratings, bookmarks, posts you marked as read, notes and feedback you send. Your average rating is never shown publicly.
A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is needed for the site to work and is not used for anything else.
If you subscribe to the digest or sign up, the site sends you emails (confirmation, password reset, the digest you chose). Every digest has an unsubscribe link. An unconfirmed subscription is deleted after 7 days; an unsubscribed address is deleted within 30 days.
## Comments
Comments are checked by the site's own rules and word lists; their text is not sent to an outside service. A comment may wait for the owner's review before it appears. Rejected comments are deleted after 30 days.
## Ads
The site shows only its own "house" promotions for the owner's projects. No ad network is active, and no advertising cookie is set.
## Who else handles data
- Neon hosts the database (AWS, Singapore region).
- Cloudflare provides the domain, DNS and the secure connection between your browser and the site; your requests pass through its network.
- Brevo sends the site's emails.
- Google, only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
None of them receives your data for their own marketing from this site.
